Last week, our local businesses and restaurants came together for the Discover Cheboygan Business Expo & Taste of the Straits at the Cheboygan Ice Arena. A lot of fun was had for both the vendors and visitors alike!

Many restaurants were able to showcase some of their favorite dishes (and we were able to sample them! Yumm!). It was a great way to share what they offered in house and for catered events. Once you made your rounds, there was a contest to vote their favorite restaurant, who ultimately ended up winning the “Golden Fork” award! Congratulations to Duncan City Pizza! While it was neck to neck competition, it may have been their unique pickle pizza that put them over the top! 😉 (I’m partial as we took one home for dinner!) I also love that they use high quality and fresh ingredients on their pizzas, such as Plath’s meats.
Most businesses had giveaway baskets or certificates that you could win. Some gave the option to reserve or sample their services. I enjoyed the variety of vendors and always find or meet someone new that I didn’t that was in the community. Isn’t that what an expo is all about?!
A hilarious add-on this year was the Cash Cube! For the price of a raffle ticket, you were entered into a drawing where you had the opportunity to enter into the whirlwind of fun to grab as much money as you can in 20 seconds! There were also coupons and certificates to local businesses in there as well! And as some of the contestants stated, it was more challenging than it looked!
I am grateful to be able to have a presence here in our community where I can not only share my business but photograph and help promote the event as well. If you weren’t able to make it this year, I highly suggest putting it on your calendar for the next! An interactive and tasty experience you don’t want to miss!
